This maternity ready reckoner is designed to assist officers to easily work out their choices about when to start their maternity leave and help inform them how long they can afford to stay on maternity leave.
If you are thinking about what options you have, you can use this calculator to input numerous options that are personal to your circumstances before you notify the force what Police Maternity Leave you are taking.
You can also work out what your pay will now be if you have gone off work earlier than planned.
PFEW has endeavoured to ensure that the information contained in the spreadsheet is accurate, but we accept no responsibility for the information and disclaim and exclude any liability for action taken or actions not taken as a result of using this spreadsheet.
Officers should discuss any individual circumstances with their Force HR department and if any issues arise from this discussion, they should take initial advice from a PFEW Representative.
Your Police Maternity Leave remains unchanged and has / will start on and end on . Time off between and is eligible for Statutory Maternity Pay, but your police maternity leave will continue to begin on the day you previously notified the force that you wanted it to start unless you notify them otherwise (how forces categorise the leave before your Police Maternity Leave starts varies, but usually it will be Special Leave).
You will receive:
Your normal pay is what you are getting paid now (either full pay for your rank, or a percentage if you work part time), if you are due to move a up a pay point whilst on police maternity pay it will increase as normal.
If you have reduced or increased your part time hours in the 4 months prior to your due date things will be different for you and this calculator may not reflect your pay. Speak to your local Police Federation office.
If as a result of starting your Statutory Maternity Pay starting early you now have more time as unpaid Police Maternity Leave than you want you can tell the force you will return early, however you do not have to do this and your Police Maternity Leave does not have to end early unless you request it.
