This survey is conducted by the Police Federation of England and Wales (“the PFEW”). The PFEW is the designated data controller and data processor for this project and access to the dataset will be restricted to PFEW staff. Data will be analysed and reported anonymously and will only be used for the purposes outlined on the introduction page of the survey.
We ask you for some personal demographic information within this survey, including information on your ethnic origin, which has been categorised as special category data under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations 2018 and sensitive personal data under the Data Protection Act 1998. We collect these data to understand our members’ experiences and reasons for leaving across different demographic groups and the demographic information you provide will be used only for this purpose.
The research you are invited to participate in adopts a panel design, where we track trends in members’ responses and establish changes in responses over time. As a result, there is no designated retention period for this survey. The retention period instead is determined by the continued use and reporting of the data by the PFEW for the purposes set out above. However, the data’s retention will be reviewed every 5 years and when it no longer meets the retention criteria, it will be deleted securely.
This survey is hosted by Survey Monkey. Survey Monkey’s servers are currently located in the United States and your data will be stored securely by Survey Monkey in compliance with the EU’s GDPR regulations in this location whilst the survey is open. Details of Survey Monkey's privacy policy can be found on their website. When the survey closes the data you provide will be deleted from the Survey Monkey servers and stored securely on the PFEW’s servers in the United Kingdom.
We collect and process the data you provide within this survey only with your explicit consent; this is the PFEW’s legal basis for processing these data. You will be asked to provide your consent at the bottom of the page. You have a right to withdraw your consent. Should you wish to withdraw either during or after completing the survey, we will make every attempt to facilitate this. Please contact the lead researcher using the contact details below.
