Pulse Survey - November 2025 - Privacy Statement

This survey is being conducted by the Police Federation of England and Wales (“the PFEW”). The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after this specific survey in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

The PFEW is the designated data controller and data processor for this project and access to the dataset will be restricted to PFEW staff. Data will be analysed and reported anonymously and will only be used for the purposes outlined below:

  1. This survey aims to facilitate a greater understanding of police officer's views on the issues of attrition and pensions to support the 2025-2026 PRRB submissions.
  2. Within the survey, you will be asked about your intention to stay in the Police Service, views on voluntary resignations, questions around the pension scheme and other topical questions. The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete.
  3. In the survey we will also be collecting information on force, age, rank, sex, ethnicity and length of service. We will not be asking for any individually identifying personal data. This means that we will not ask for any personal information that would, by itself, enable us to identify an individual (e.g. name, address, or phone number).

At the end of the survey, you will be asked whether you would like to take part in a focus group in the new year, if yes, you will be directed to a separate link to provide your contact details to ensure your responses in this survey remain anonymous.

We collect and process the data you provide only with your explicit consent; this is the PFEW’s legal basis for processing these data.

You will be asked to provide your consent at the bottom of the first page of the survey. You can choose not to provide information for any, or all, of the questions in the survey and you have a right to withdraw your consent.

Should you wish to withdraw either during or after completing the form, we will make every attempt to facilitate this. Please contact us using the contact details below.

  • We will retain the information you provide for a period of two years.
  • After this time the information you have provided will be securely deleted.
    • PFEW will also carry out periodical reviews of the data during the retention period to ensure that the continued retention of the data remains appropriate.
  • As an individual you have legal rights concerning how the personal information you provide is processed.
  • Your rights are protected under the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. The PFEW will process the personal information you provide in accordance with these regulations.
  • You have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office if you have concerns about how the PFEW is processing your personal information.
