QUESTION:
In December 2023 you responded to FOI request 00340, which asked how many individual gross misconduct cases the Police Federation provided legal representation for, and the associated cost, for the years 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23. Your response gave the following figures:
2020/21: 116 cases, £1,433,958.01
2021/22: 100 cases, £1,557,365.21
2022/23: 82 cases, £674,593.18
Please provide updated figures on the same basis (i.e. gross misconduct cases which proceeded to a full hearing, and the cost of legal representation provided) for each of the following years: (i) 2023/24, (ii) 2024/25, and (iii) 2025/26 (or the most recent full or partial year for which data is held, if 2025/26 is not yet complete).

Regarding the second part of this question which concerns the cost of the cases above, the PFEW is unable to isolate the costs per year of the cases that have progressed to a full hearing. The data for the request in 2023 was retrieved from a different database to the one we currently use for the billing of legal representation/proceedings. It is not possible to provide the costs of only GM cases that have progressed to full hearing, however we can provide the costs of all GM cases that the PFEW has supported in the years specified. Please see the below:
