FOI 00415 - Police Regulations 2003

Request:

Received: 21 October 2024

I know that when a police officer's rest day is cancelled, they are entitled to payment, generally at a rate of time and a half.

If the need to work no longer exists, the in certain circumstances =, the officer can choose to have their rest day re-instated or they can choose to work.

An example might be if a football match was cancelled.

Can you please tell me what Regulation covers this aspect?

I have looked at your website and there is mention of Regulation 26 but that just seems to define what a rest day is.

Compensation for working on a rest day is provided for by the determination Annexe H, which sits under Regulation 26 of the Police Regulations 2003 and can be publicly accessed here:

The Police Negotiating Board (PNB) circular 85-9 sets out the specifics of the scenario outlined in the request, a copy of which has been attached to our response.  It is also available in the public domain.
