The Police Federation of England and Wales are exempting this response under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Part 1, Section 12: cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit. We are not obliged to comply with a request if it is estimated that the cost of locating, retrieving and, where necessary, extracting the information from a database or document would exceed the appropriate limit. The appropriate limit is deemed to be based on a rate of £25 per hour, regardless of the rate of pay of any individual involved in the retrieval of requested information and equates to 18 hours work.
In order to obtain the data, it would involve a significant search of our systems and we would need to read every single file independently. The number of claims per year since January 2010 are as follows:
