PC Tania Kirby has become one of Gloucestershire Police Federation's most respected and trusted workplace representatives, earning a reputation for her professionalism, integrity and unwavering commitment to supporting members.

Recently named Gloucestershire's Federation Representative of the Year, following a vote by fellow federated officers, Tania has dedicated countless hours to ensuring colleagues receive the advice, reassurance and representation they need throughout their careers.

As an experienced workplace representative, Tania consistently goes above and beyond for members. Whether dealing with everyday workplace concerns, supporting officers through complex complaint investigations or representing colleagues during misconduct proceedings, she provides balanced, knowledgeable and compassionate support. Officers know they can rely on her for honest advice and clear guidance, regardless of the circumstances.

One of Tania's most significant contributions has been her work supporting student officers and probationers through Regulation 12 and Regulation 13 processes. She has become a leading voice in this area, helping ensure cases are considered fairly, objectively and with a clear understanding of both individual circumstances and organisational requirements.

Her expertise has also helped shape and improve the force's approach to Regulation 13 procedures. Through extensive involvement in policy development and consultation, Tania has played a key role in creating processes that are transparent, fair and effective. Beyond individual casework, Tania has been instrumental in improving promotion and recruitment processes across Gloucestershire Police. For several years, she has led the Federation's involvement in promotion procedures, contributing to planning meetings, assessment boards, interview panels and consultation work. Her determination and advocacy helped modernise promotion processes for sergeants, inspectors and chief inspectors, making them fairer, more transparent and increasing confidence among officers.

Tania is also widely respected for her willingness to challenge decisions when necessary. Drawing on her extensive knowledge of Police Regulations, she robustly scrutinises organisational decisions and advocates fearlessly on behalf of members. Her approach is always professional, objective and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for officers.
