Immediate choice applies to officers who retired before 1 October 2023 and need to be remedied. These officers will have a pension in both schemes for the remedy period and you can only have a legacy scheme (PPS 1987/PPS2006) or the reformed scheme (2015 CARE Scheme) for that period.

This has been a slow process and there are still members awaiting remedy despite the deadline being 31 March 2025.
