Part two of CEO Direct is now available to watch on our YouTube channel, answering pertinent questions put to him by Journalist Danny Shaw from finances to salaries.

Topics covered in Episode 3, Part 2, by PFEW CEO Mukund Krishna include:

• The Normington Review and taking action regarding transparency with finances: Mr Krishna outlined how the findings of the 2014 review were accepted at the time, but pointed out how it contains inconsistencies and contradictions. He stressed changes have been made since then, including moving away from 44 independent audits and instead adopting a single audit model covering HQ and all branches.

• Annual audits: It was confirmed the 2022 annual audit will be published this month along with 2023’s in the coming weeks.

• CEO’s salary: The upcoming annual audits will disclose the CEO’s salary along with other positions such as National Chair.

• Professionalism: PFEW has also since appointed an experienced, independent trustee to advise financially in form of a Chief Finance Officer to provide oversight.

• Police officer pay: He covered how the Police Federation is continuing to lobby for a pay mechanism that allows for negotiation, rather than the imposition of a fixed pay award; and a system of independent binding arbitration on all parties, including government, if a settlement cannot be agreed.

• Members’ concerns: Mr Krishna reiterated how the Federation supports a tightening of the current vetting regime, however, is seeking legal action against unfair new vetting guidance launched by the College of Policing. More details can be found here.
