The vision of #BleepKind is to promote a culture which prioritises health and wellbeing through kindness, understanding and support, to ensure members are ready to meet and exceed identified levels of operational fitness.

It is a support group that was set up by two full time Police Officers and Mum’s who wanted to create a safe space for officers who have concerns about the bleep test, regardless of what level on the fitness test you need to achieve. As well as the website they have an X account #BleepKind and a private Facebook page #BleepKind. This isn’t just a network for women, all officers who require support are welcomed.

The chaplaincy service is there to support all employees and volunteers. Support is available to people of all faiths, or none. Their faith guides why they want to support people but the conversations themselves are only religious if you ask for that support. To contact the chaplaincy service text Tanya on 07436 530 242 or visit the intranet page for more information. Tanya also runs monthly drop in sessions at the Federation office which are normally held on the first Monday of the month.

TRiM

Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) provides advice and assistance to members who have attended or been involved in incidents and investigations that they have found distressing or disturbing.

There are also times when the incident isn’t necessarily to others serious or traumatic but there may be factors involved that generate a personal reminder, these are called triggers which may evoke a personal response linked to your personal/private life and may just need talking through.

The Trim process is progressed where it is identified that another may benefit from an intervention. These are identified by a number of routes.

A TRiM assessment will not take place until at least 48 hours after an incident. This is to allow normal processing to take place. A trained TRiM practitioner will then make contact with you which may be after the first 24 hours but usually within 3 days.

Members who subscribe to the Police Treatment Centre can access the Wellbeing programme if they are suffering from mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Further information can be accessed HERE

Addiction Support For Police Officers

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has proudly partnered with Help4Addiction and Rehubs to provide a safe place for officers struggling with addiction issues to speak to a professional or access a free consultation.

If you or a loved one are potentially struggling with an addiction to alcohol or drugs, this free service provides professional guidance through a free helpline and helps identify any concerning behaviours through a free online consultation.

Addressing The Unspoken Problem

A new study* conducted by researchers at the University of Liverpool has found that 33% UK police officers and staff were meeting the criteria for heavy drinking, and this was more common for those with a history of mental health problems.

The stress and emotional demands of police work can significantly affect mental health and contribute to harmful behaviours.

The first steps are always the hardest ones to take towards the journey to recovery, but recognising the problem is a victory in itself.

With the help and support from Help4Addiction and Rehubs, individuals can find a path towards recovery, fostering resilience and well-being.

Speak To Help4Addiction For:

  • Alcohol abuse
  • Drug abuse
  • Substance abuse
  • Porn addiction
  • Gambling issues
  • Co-dependency issues
