Following a competitive Tender, the Trustees have appointed Philip Williams and Company to manage the Sussex Police Group Insurance Scheme commencing 1st April 2024.

You will need to register your email address on your first visit to the site.
Please note that contact and claims telephone numbers have changed and you should update any saved numbers you may have.
There are a number of scheme enhancements applicable from 1st April 2024. Please see the Scheme Benefits Booklet for further details.
1. How do I join the Group Insurance Scheme?
To join the Group Insurance Scheme, please follow this link and register. Once registered, log in and complete an application form.
2. I am Police Staff; can I join the Group Insurance Scheme?
Yes! Please follow this link and register. Once registered, log in and complete an application form.
3. I am a Special Constable; can I join the Group Insurance Scheme?
Yes! Please follow this link and register. Once registered, log in and complete an application form.
4. I have been turned down for the Group Insurance Scheme, what can I do?
If you have been turned down for the Group Insurance Scheme, you can still apply for our CORE scheme. The CORE scheme includes all the usual benefits excluding Life assurance and critical illness. Please contact admin@sussex.polfed.org for an application form.
5. Can my partner join the Group Insurance Scheme?
Yes! If you are already a member of the Group Insurance Scheme and would like to amend your subscription to include your partner, please click this link to register (if you haven’t already done so). Once registered, you can log into your account and submit an application form. The same applies if you are a new member.

9. I am taking a career break; can I continue with my Group Insurance Scheme subscription?
Yes! HR will notify us of your career break and our admin team will send out a letter with all the information you need in order to continue your Group Insurance Scheme subscription. Please note, in order to continue with your GIS subscription, you will also need to continue your Federation membership.
10. I am going on maternity / paternity / adoption leave, can I continue with the Group Insurance Scheme?
Yes! HR will notify us of your maternity / paternity / adoption leave and our admin team will send out a letter with all the information you need in order to continue your Group Insurance Scheme subscription. Please note, in order to continue with your GIS subscription, you will also need to continue your Federation membership.
11. I am retiring under the Officer Retention Scheme, which is the best Group Insurance Scheme for me to move to?
As Police Staff are now able to join the Group Insurance Scheme, we recommend moving to a Police Staff subscription type rather than the Retired member subscription. HR will notify us that you are retiring and returning under the Officer Retention Scheme and our admin team will send out a letter with all the information you need.
12. I am on long term sick leave and am due to fall into half pay, can I claim on the Group Insurance Scheme?
If a member of the Group Insurance Scheme suffers a pay cut under regulations or terms of employment, they are entitled to claim for 20% of gross salary if they fall into half pay (for up to 26 weeks), and 40% of gross salary if they fall into nil pay (for up to 26 weeks). The benefit ceases on return to work or if the member retires, resigns, is discharged from the police service, or fails to pay the monthly scheme subscription. In addition, the benefit shall not be payable if the member has been offered reasonable adjusted duties with a return to full pay and has declined such duties without reasonable cause.
