Federation members have until Sunday to vote in the branch’s workplace representative election, with results set to be announced soon after.
Most Police Federation branches in England and Wales are currently in the process of holding elections and members far and wide have recently been emailed information on how to get involved through voting.
Votes can be submitted through an online portal, which closes on Sunday 23 February. Official results will then follow on Thursday 27 February.
Nottinghamshire Police Federation chair Simon Riley has urged members to use their vote in the election and have their say on how the branch is represented moving forward.
“I think it’s vital that there is full engagement with the election process, because we want absolutely everyone in our membership to have a voice," Simon said.
“The instructions on how to vote are out there and easy to follow for all. With less than a week until the deadline, I’d like to encourage those who haven’t already to set some time aside to find out about the candidates and get their vote in.
“This is a big opportunity to help decide how our Federation is set up for the future, as we continue in our mission to work for what you deserve as police officers.”
Once the identities of the branch’s workplace representatives are confirmed, a new Nottinghamshire Police Federation Branch Council will be formed. From there, reps can go on to stand for positions on the Branch Board, and then for regional and national Federation posts.

A. Any member can vote as long as they were a member of the Federation two months before nominations opened. Nominations opened on 30 December, so they will need to have been a member on 30 October 2024.
Q. How do I vote?
A. Voting will be online during the voting period – a link is provided to all members.
Q. How will the Branch Council election results be announced?
A. Once the voting period closes, candidates will be informed via email if they have been successful. Branches will also receive an electronic copy of the results, as will the national general secretary, who is the arbiter of the election process.
