Vital for members to take part in industrial rights poll
6 June 2024
Register your view and take part in the industrial rights poll, members of Nottinghamshire Police Federation are being urged.
The poll, which was launched on Monday (3 June) will determine whether members would like the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) to pursue industrial rights for police officers.
The link to the poll has been emailed out to all members, including Special Constables, all of which are being encouraged to take part.
Chair of Nottinghamshire Police Federation Simon Riley said: “It is vital that all of our members take part in the poll, as it gives you the opportunity to express your views on the current system.
“Results from this poll will ensure the Federation can act effectively on behalf of the membership’s collective views.”
The poll will determine whether Federation members would like PFEW to seek, in law, the re-establishment of a mechanism of collective bargaining and direct negotiation with the Government when it comes to determining police pay.
Should the majority vote in favour, then PFEW will commence negotiations with the new Government, at the earliest opportunity.
“It’s important to note that there will be no threshold set for the percentage of members who need to participate in the poll. The decision will be made on a simple majority vote,” added Simon.
The poll will close on Friday 21 June at 21.59.
Along with the poll link, members should have received an FAQ document. If you have not received the poll link or the FAQ document, please contact the Federation office as soon as possible.
