Police Care UK’s Christmas campaign: ‘Thank You’

12 December 2024

Nottinghamshire Police Federation is supporting a new campaign which aims to recognise the tireless efforts of members – particularly at Christmas.

Police Care UK has launched its ‘Thank You’ campaign and is encouraging people to share messages of support for officers.

The charity is asking people to show their backing for the police family and the sacrifices they make this Christmas.

A spokesperson said: “Your kindness will support our work providing specialist clinical therapy and financial assistance for those who have been exposed to physical and psychological trauma in their policing role.

“With your help, we can do more.

“Join us in saying a Christmas ‘thank you’ to all our police – past and present – for their protection and service.

“Your support this Christmas can help us help them and together, we can understand trauma and restore lives.”

Nottinghamshire Police Federation chair Simon Riley said: “Policing has had a tough time with erosion of our pay and conditions, increasing workloads, and negative media headlines.

“Our members make huge sacrifices all year round, but they are often keenly felt around this time of year, particularly for those with young families or caring duties.

“So it’s pleasing to have the support of Police Care UK and it’s ‘Thank You’ campaign, and I’m sure it will be well received by our members.

“And it also reinforces the need for our members to look after themselves and to take time for their own physical and mental health.”

Police Care UK

Police Care UK is a charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered physical or psychological harm as a result of policing.

It is independent of the police service, and funded by donations and fundraising.

The charity is asking people to show their appreciation for serving and former officers, and their families, and their sacrifices this Christmas.

That could be by making a donation to the charity, posting a message on its Wall of Thanks,  sharing a social media post, fundraisingvolunteering, or even leaving a gift in their will.

Follow the campaign’s progress and share media posts on the charity’s channels at X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram
