“Today marks a very poignant anniversary for Graham’s family and friends,” said Simon Riley, chair of Nottinghamshire Police Federation, “Our thoughts are with them, as always, but particularly today.

“Graham’s tragic death means their lives will never quite be the same, but we want them to know that they are still part of the policing family and we will not forget Graham and his service to the Force.

“In the finest traditions of policing, he bravely tried to help someone who was in danger and, in doing so, sacrificed his own life.”

The Force is holding a short memorial service for Graham at 11.30am today, during which Chief Constable Kate Meynell and Simon will lay wreaths at his memorial stone which is next to those for Ged Walker and Christopher MacDonald at the entrance to HQ. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
