Know Your Numbers Week starts today (4 September) and encourages people to have their blood pressure tested.
A new factsheet has been produced for Nottinghamshire Police Federation members with information on how to get their pressure checked.
Produced by Police Mutual, which provides financial services for serving or retired police officers, staff and their families, the guide also includes tips on staying healthy, exercise and nutrition, as well as information on how to boost the immune system and advice on sleeping.
Also this week, it’s World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday (10 September). The day sees people and organisations come together to raise awareness of suicide prevention.
According to the World Health Organisation, 700,000 people die by suicide every year, and many more people will attempt it.
To help raise awareness, Police Mutual has produced a free online guide which includes signs to look out for that someone may be thinking about suicide, advice on how to help someone, and a list of organisations that offer support.
Your Health is for Life is the theme for National Fitness Day, which takes place on 20 September and aims to encourage people to be more active lives.
Federation members can download a Police Mutual factsheet with tips on how to lead healthier lifestyles and information on how fitness levels can improve health.
