Members are being encouraged to open up about bereavement and loss and to seek support if they’re grieving.
A new factsheet has been produced for Grief Awareness Week, which runs from 2 to 8 December, and aims to raise awareness of the impact of grief and to break the taboo around talking about it.
The factsheet has been put together by Police Mutual, which provides financial services and welfare support to the police service, and includes signs and symptoms to look out for that you or someone you love may be grieving.
It includes tips on looking after yourself following a bereavement, what to say when someone is grieving, and advice on helping children cope with death.
There’s also practical guidance on what to do when someone dies and where to find support if you are grieving.
