Nottinghamshire Police Federation is the staff association for police constables, sergeants, inspectors and chief inspectors within Nottinghamshire Police.
Its offices are at 1 Mansfield Road, Nottingham.
Nationally, the Police Federation of England and Wales is one of the largest staff associations in the UK representing almost 122,000 rank and file officers.
Established by the Police Act of 1919, the Police Federation was introduced to provide officers with a platform to bring their views on welfare and efficiency to the notice of the government and police authorities.
The Police Federation is not a union, but a staff association, with a statutory responsibility to represent its members, that is all officers below the rank of superintendent, in all matters affecting their welfare and efficiency.
Nottinghamshire Police Federation represents the interests of around 2,300 police officers. It takes an active interest in a wide range of subjects including: pay, allowances, hours of duty, annual leave and pensions and welfare, together with other issues which may have the potential to affect members.
It seeks out and brings together the views of Nottinghamshire police officers and then ensures it puts forward those views. Its work has three main strands - representation, negotiation and influence.
