 Custody Handover – Member Update

We want to reassure our members that we are actively engaging with the force on the issue of custody officer handovers, a matter we believe is critical to both officer welfare and detainee safety.

A formal letter has been submitted to the Chief Constable from our Heath, Safety and Custody lead Dan Cooper, raising our concerns around the lack of dedicated handover time for custody officers and the associated risks this presents. We are approaching this collaboratively and constructively, with a focus on ensuring working practices comply with national guidance and protect our members' rights under Police Regulations.

This is an ongoing piece of work, and we will keep you updated on any progress or outcomes.
