THE detective sergeant who suffered Novichok poisoning after attending Sergei Skripal's home last March has returned to work.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that DS Nick Bailey has returned to work after a lengthy absence to recuperate.

DS Bailey was left critically ill after attending Mr Skripal's home in Christie Miller Road on March 4, after the Russian former spy and his daughter were found unconscious in the city centre.

But after becoming unwell, he was taken to Salisbury District Hospital, where he remained for almost three weeks.

It was later discovered that the nerve agent had been administered to the property's door handle, and that DS Bailey had become contaminated during his investigation of the house.

DS Bailey, his wife and children were unable to return home, as he had unknowingly contaminated the property when he returned.
