Kent Police Federation

Members are being encouraged to stand for election as workplace Reps

8 January 2025

Kent Police Federation members are being encouraged to stand for election as workplace Reps, so they can help and support their colleagues and influence working conditions within the force.

Information on the first round of elections, including how officers can nominate themselves as a Rep and how to vote, has been sent to members’ police emails. Nominations opened on 30 December and will close on 24 January, before voting takes place in February.

Kent Police Federation Secretary Dan Pearce said: “Any Federation member, from PC to Chief Inspector, can nominate themselves and stand for election as a workplace Rep. If elected, they will become part of the local Branch Council – from there, they can choose to stand for nomination to the Branch Board, then stand for a regional or a national role if they wish.”

Being a Rep is a great way to get involved and influence positive change, Dan said: “As a Federation Representative, you will have a direct link between the police officers on the ground and the senior officers who are the decision-makers in Kent Police. You'll have the opportunity to raise concerns, share insights, and ensure that your colleagues' voices are heard on matters that affect their working conditions, welfare and safety. “If you're ready to take on the role of a Federation Representative and contribute to the betterment of the policing community, we encourage you to nominate yourself and get involved.”

If officers have questions about the election process, they can contact the Kent Federation office at kent@kent.polfed.org or visit the national Federation website at www.polfed.org/about-us/join-the-fed/elections/.
