Members are being urged to take on a virtual bike ride for charity.
Back on the Beat will be returning this May and raising money for the Police Treatment Centres (PTC).
In light of the ongoing pandemic, the PTC has chosen to make the annual 100km fund-raiser a virtual event, giving officers the chance to take part from the comfort of their own home.
Whether participants choose to cycle the route safely around their local area, or in front of the TV on a static bike, Humberside Police Federation secretary Rob Grunner is encouraging as many members get involved as possible.
“We really hope to see our members embracing this year’s Back on the Beat challenge and raising some much-needed funds for the PTC,” said Rob, “With this year’s event being virtual, it's an opportunity for anyone and everyone to take part, which is brilliant.”
Back on the Beat, which took a break in 2020, usually takes place at the Police Treatment Centres and North Yorkshire.
Making its return this year, the event will be taking place between 10 to 16 May, giving riders seven days to complete the 100km.
Participants can sign up individually or as a group, and those who complete the event will receive a medal. Entry to the ride will be £10, with all riders or teams pledging to raise a minimum of £100.
The charity’s two treatment centres, which are currently closed due to the pandemic, have been providing remote support, helps officers with physical and psychological injuries, conditions and illnesses. They are scheduled to re-open on 26 April.
