Humberside Police Federation chair Pete Musgrave has urged the public to stay at home and follow the new lockdown rules.
Pete, speaking after Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night announced the third national lockdown, said: “With the new strain of the virus spreading so rapidly, the NHS is increasingly being put under pressure and in certain areas is struggling to cope.
“We all have come together to protect the NHS and try to halt the spread of coronavirus by only leaving our homes for the very limited reasons laid down by the Government.
“Police officers continue to serve the public and have largely been by their communities. We would encourage people to stick to the new rules, help protect the NHS and also support police officers who are doing a very difficult job during tough and challenging times. We all have to work together but, where necessary, police officers will take enforcement action.”
