Humberside Police Federation meet with Shadow Police Minister Sarah Jones and Labour MP for Hull Emma Hardy

Humberside Police Federation Chair Lee Sims and Secretary Rob Grunner have met with Shadow Police Minister Sarah Jones and Emma Hardy, Labour MP for Hull West and Hessle.

“It was important for me to let Shadow Police Minister know how insulted my members were to have not received a pay rise during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Lee. “Now the pay freeze has been lifted, we discussed how important it is that there is a decent pay rise for officers next year.

“If we do not get at least an inflation level pay rise, then once again my members have been realistically left with a pay cut. What we cannot see is just more lip service from the Government.

“I also highlighted my concerns regarding where the money would come from to cover this pay rise – would this still come out of the Humberside budget? This is a worrying prospect.

“I also thanked the Shadow Minister for her support in lobbying for officers to receive priority for the Covid-19 vaccination. It was something that did not go unnoticed.”
