Humberside Police Federation chair Pete Musgrave says it’s more important than ever to look after your physical and mental health as he encouraged members to take part in a new exercise challenge.
The Get Active Challenge runs from next Monday (14 September) to 31 October.
The challenge aims to inspire people to get active while supporting Police Care UK, the charity for police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered harm as a result of policing, and creating good-natured rivalry.
People taking part in the challenge register and log their activities online.
Every activity – such as running, cycling and swimming, exercise classes, weights and even the walk to school – counts towards their total.
Exercise is tracked on national leader boards with individual and collective mileage, and fund-raising targets.
Pete said: “The pandemic has shown us that it’s more important than ever to look after our physical and mental wellbeing, and being active and getting exercise is a huge part of that.
“The Get Active Challenge is a great way for us to look after ourselves and to raise money for Police Care UK.
“Police Care UK are always there to support the policing family so it’s great that we can show our support for such a brilliant charity in this way, and help ourselves too.
“And there’s chance for a bit of good-natured rivalry with colleagues, friends and family, and with other forces too,” he added.
Registration is now open via the Get Active Challenge’s website and every participant receives a medal.
The entry fee is £15. Police Care UK receives 50 per cent of the sign-up fee and any additional fundraising participants wish to do via Just Giving.
Humberside Police Federation is organising a charity sky dive next year and Police Care UK will be one of three beneficiaries. Find out more.
