One of the youngest fallen officers in the history of policing is today remembered by Hertfordshire Police Federation.
PC Peter Eykelbosch was only 19 when his motorbike was in collision with a lorry near St Albans as he travelled to report for duty with the Force on 9 June 1980.
“Peter was so young and with his whole life in front of him when he lost his life while travelling in to work that day,” says Luke Mitchell, chair of Hertfordshire Police Federation, “Today we remember his service to the Force and keep his family, friends and former colleagues in our thoughts as they mark this sad anniversary.”
