Federation remembers Force sergeant

20 November 2024

Hertfordshire Police Federation chair Luke Mitchell has paid tribute to a sergeant from the Force who died on this day 18 years ago.

Sergeant Alan Lovett, 46, collapsed and died of heart failure while he was on custody duty at Hertford Police Station in the early hours of 27 November 2006.

“Today we remember Alan and keep his family, friends and colleagues in our thoughts,” says Luke.

“The death of a serving officer is always felt across the Force and it is important that we continue to remember our fallen colleagues, their service to the Force and their communities, but it is also important that we remember the loved ones they left behind.”
