Hertfordshire Police Federation chair Luke Mitchell has sent congratulations to people who have made valuable contributions to the Force and have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours.
Ron McMurdie, a former Federation member who retired as a Special Chief Inspector in September after an incredible 46 years volunteering with Hertfordshire Police, has been made an MBE for services to policing.
Ron joined Hertfordshire Police as a Special Constable in 1978, rising to Special Sergeant two years later, Special Inspector in 1982 and Special Chief Inspector in 2014.
Kerry-Anne Cooper, who has served as Dacorum police chaplain, has been made an MBE, for services to the community in Hemel Hempstead.
She was also founder and chief executive of Liberty Tea Rooms and Community Hub in Hemel Hempstead.
David Lloyd, who served as Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire from 2012 until this year, has been made an OBE for services to public safety.
David was the first person to hold the position, and has also served as chair of the county’s police authority.
Luke said: “On behalf of Hertfordshire Police Federation, I would like to congratulate those who have made such an important contribution to policing in the county.
“Receiving an award in the New Year’s Honours is due recognition for their dedication, work, and commitment to policing and is well deserved.”
