Fallen officer’s anniversary

Hertfordshire PC Jacqueline Brown died on this day in 1989.

PC Brown, who was just 23, died when she lost control of her patrol car on a bend in wet weather. She was driving a prison and escort at Harpenden when the accident occurred.

Luke Mitchell, chair of Hertfordshire Police Federation, said: “Today we remember PC Brown, her service to our communities and her tragic death in the line of duty.

“Our thoughts today are with her family, her friends and, of course, her colleagues.”
