Men’s Health Week is a chance for members to focus on their wellbeing, says Hertfordshire Police Federation chair Geoff Bardell.
Men’s Health Week runs from 15 to 21 June and aims to raise awareness of a wide range of health issues that disproportionately affect men. This year’s theme is Take Action on COVID-19.
Geoff said: “The ongoing pandemic has shone a light on physical and mental wellbeing as we’ve all had to adjust to a new normal. And while the past few months have shown the best side of policing, when our officers have stepped up to protect our communities and the NHS, it’s not without consequences.
“It is having a profound effect on us as a society and which is why we’re encouraging all members to use Men’s Health Week as an opportunity to take control of their health.”
The Police Mutual wellbeing team has produced a guide to Men’s Health Week including tips to improve physical and mental health and signposts to support services.
Geoff said: “The guide contains are some eye-opening stats as well as helpful tips for improving our physical and mental health. Have a read and see how you can take some small steps now that can have a big impact on your health and wellbeing in the future.”
