“We’ve got police officers dying from catching Covid - and it feels like the Government don’t care.” 

Zoe Wakefield, Chair of Hampshire Police Federation, spoke out on ‘That’s TV South’ regarding police officers being considered as a priority for Covid-19 vaccinations.

She explained: “There is a growing fear and anxiety amongst are colleagues of catching the virus, either passing it onto their colleagues, innocent members of the public or taking it home to their families.

“Being spat at has increased during the pandemic, with people weaponizing the virus.

“We obviously can’t social distance heightening the risk of contracting Covid; it’s a really anxious and worrying time for officers.

“We’ve got police officers who are dying from catching Covid and it feels like the Government don’t care.

“Or that they don’t understand and are just ignoring the risks that were are facing.”
