The spring edition of the Derbyshire Police Federation magazine shines a light on some of the extraordinary contributions of our female members for International Women’s Day.
We meet PC Alex Clinkard, who relishes the challenge of playing rugby for the British Police Women’s Team, despite the fact many of her opponents are much bigger than her.
“Anyone that runs at me, I’m happy to get them down,” she says.
Federation rep Sergeant Tenielle Hardwick tells the remarkable story of how she almost became a nun rather than a police officer.
And we speak to Heidi Brailsford, who is one of the first Specials in the country to become a Federation rep.
Heidi and her colleagues in the Special Constabulary contributed 19,500 volunteer hours to the Force last year, and we hear from Sergeant Mark Smith on the investment that’s going into Derbyshire’s volunteer officers.
Read the incredible story of how a Derbyshire Police cadet group received an award from the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace for their potentially life-saving work while on a walking expedition in the Peak District.
Branch secretary Kirsty Bunn thanks members for taking part in the workplace elections, either by standing for election or by voting.
Kirsty gives her reaction to the recommendation of a 3.8 per cent pay award for officers for this year. And she adds her voice to growing calls for the 1994 PNB Agreement regulations that cover the inspecting ranks to be reviewed.
It’s all in the spring edition of News & Views, available to download now.
