Staff at the Police Treatment Centre (PTC) are taking on a challenge with a difference this weekend to raise money for new equipment – and Derbyshire Police Federation members can show their support.
The staff at the PTC in Harrogate, North Yorkshire will be taking part in the Knaresborough Bed Race.
The race is a mighty pageant of decorated beds, passengers and runners, combined with a gruelling athletic contest around a course of 2.4 miles.
It has been held every year since 1966, except during the pandemic, and this year’s race takes place on Saturday 8 June.
The PTC is a registered charity which provides treatment and support for injured and ill serving and retired officers. The treatment includes intensive police-specific physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Around 4,000 members of the police family are treated at one of the two PTC centres in Harrogate or Perthshire in Scotland.
It costs around £6.5m to operate both centres and provide essential care and support to officers when they need it most.
The staff members will be raising money for the PTC and specifically for new Game Ready rehabilitation machine to aid patient recovery.
Derbyshire Police Federation members can support the PTC team and their cause via their JustGiving page.
More information about how to sign up to the PTC is available on the Derbyshire Police Federation website.
