Having drawn a ‘Stay safe’ rainbow, he wrote next to it: ‘Stay safe police officer. From Oscar age 4’ then asked his mum if he could send it to a police officer to keep them safe.

His mum sent the rainbow and message into the Force and it was promptly sent out on Twitter by the Force Contact Centre so that every officer could see it, gaining well over 400 ‘likes’ in the process.

The youngster’s lovely drawing was just one of many good wishes that have been sent into the Force during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flowers, cards, written messages and ‘stay safe’ rainbows in windows have helped to brighten the day of officers who are working on the front-line serving their communities.

Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton said: “This is a difficult time for all of our members as we are constantly having to adapt to an unprecedented situation. So, the small gestures and best wishes really do make a difference to everyone involved in policing Derbyshire and we are always grateful to those who take the time out to try to do something to make us smile.

“Thanks to Oscar and everyone else who has been good to us over the last few weeks.”
