NHS workers clap officers

27 April 2020

Staff from the Royal Derby Hospital and student nurses from Derby University have released a video on Twitter to thank Derbyshire Police officers for their ‘incredible courage’ during the coronavirus outbreak.

The two-minute video already has almost 4,000 views and shows a series of workers offering thanks, thumbs-up and written messages.

Posted on the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS FT Twitter page, the words accompanying the video say: “Thanks for your incredible courage and for keeping colleagues and patients safe.”

It also shows a hashtag which says #PolicingHeroes

Receptionists, nurses, doctors, sisters and students are all in the heart-warming post giving their thanks and best wishes for the help they are receiving from the police during testing times.

One of them says: “Without you, we could not do our jobs.”

Several workers say simply: “From the NHS…thank you.”

Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton said the video would be very well received by members.

“It is a really powerful video which highlights the respect officers have as they work metaphorically hand-in-hand with the NHS on the front-line during the coronavirus crisis,” says Tony, “Police officers are doing their best to help support and protect the NHS and it’s just nice to see that their efforts are appreciated."
