Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton has extended his sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of South Yorkshire Police motorcyclist Matt Lannie who tragically died in a road accident while on duty on Tuesday afternoon.
PC Lannie, who was 40, was responding to an incident when his motorbike was in collision with a car in the Ecclesfield area of Sheffield.
“On behalf of Derbyshire Police Federation, I would like to send my deepest sympathy to PC Lannie’s family, friends and colleagues. Our hearts go out to them all,” says Tony.
“PC Lannie died in the line of duty, serving his community. His death will be felt by the whole policing family and brings home to us all the dangers officers face and each and every day as they seek to fight crime, keep order and protect the vulnerable.”
