Children with at least one parent or carer who is a police officer can continue to send their children to school during the coronavirus outbreak, the Government has confirmed.
Police officers are among a list of critical workers that also includes NHS staff, farmers and food retail workers.
Chief Constable Peter Goodman has produced a letter to headteachers outlining the status of the police officer as a critical or key worker – that letter is available on Connect, along with guidance, and should be sent or taken to the school along with a copy of the Government guidance and police ID.
Parents who are not on the list of critical workers are being asked to keep their children at home while the Government has asked schools to stay open for pupils who absolutely need to attend.
Despite schools opening for the children of critical workers, you do not have to send your children to school if you don’t need or wish to do so.
