Federation remembers PC Fitton

Twenty-eight years have now passed since the death of Derbyshire PC John Fitton.

John, 53, was cycling home from his shift on 20 May 1997 when he died after being hit by a car.

Kirsty Bunn, secretary of Derbyshire Police Federation, said: “Despite the passage of time, John’s tragic death will, I am sure, continue to be keenly felt by the family, friends and colleagues he left behind.

“As a Federation, we believe it is very important for us to remember our fallen officers, those colleagues who left their families to report for duty and sadly didn’t make it home at the end of their shifts.”
