Derbyshire Police Federation members are invited to experience ‘first of its kind’ sporting event this summer.

Hosted by Police UK Disability Sport (PUKDS), the free two-day event will give serving or retired officers and staff the opportunity to play adaptive or disability sports.

Deemed to be the ‘first of its kind in the UK’s police community’, members will be able to experience badminton, sitting volleyball, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby, with GB-level coaching teams in attendance.

There will also be a chance to try out sports that are set to be introduced in 2025 such as discus and shot putt, hand bike and indoor rowing.

The event aims to highlight the impact sport can have on physical and mental recovery.

It takes place at the University of Nottingham’s David Ross Sports Village from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 3 August and Sunday 4 August.

It is open to all police officers and staff and Police Federation members are being invited to come along and try out the sports.

The event is supported by Metfriendly and Lightweight Mobility and Seating.
