Latest magazine out now: a final farewell from branch chair

26 June 2024

In the latest issue of News & Views, Derbyshire Police Federation’s quarterly magazine, we hear from branch chair Tony Wetton one last time ahead of his retirement.

‘Proud and privileged’, Tony reminisces as he looks back on 24 and a half years in the Force, the last 14 of which have been supporting members as Federation reps.

As well as one final interview with the chair, we also shine a light on the branch’s nomination for this year’s national Police Bravery Awards.

We also hear about the first-class support available from the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) and discuss the importance of the Police Race Action Plan (PRAP) in the Force.

Protect the Police

Federation rep Steve Reid calls for more to be done to ‘protect the police’ after the latest figures reveal more than 500 cops were assaulted in the 12 months leading up to March 2023.

Members are being encouraged to attend the first-of-its-kind multi-sport event, which allows participants to have a go at adaptive or disabled sports.

Derby County Football Club team up with the Force to tackle knife crime. Plus, we catch up with this year’s Police Unity Tour team as they prepare to take part in this year’s bike ride for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity.

All this, and plenty more in the latest edition of News & Views.
