Scotland will be the host nation for this year’s National Police Memorial Day (NPMD).
Each year the service is held in one of the four nations of the UK, with Wales hosting the memorial day in 2023. This year it will be held in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 29 September.
Tony Wetton, chair of Derbyshire Police Federation, is encouraging officers to consider attending this year’s service.
“Having had the privilege of representing the Federation at a number of these services during my time as branch chair, I can honestly say National Police Memorial Day is one of the most important events in the policing calendar, but it is also one of the most moving events too,” he said.
“It is incredibly important that we honour our fallen colleagues, and that we show their families that we have not forgotten their loved ones nor the ongoing loss that they feel.”
