Get active this May: National Walking Month

8 May 2024

May is National Walking Month and Derbyshire Police Federation members are being encouraged to take advantage of the longer daylight hours for the good of their physical and mental health.

Walking is free and has proven benefits for health and wellbeing.

The benefits are highlighted in a free new factsheet Produced by Police Mutual, which provides financial services and welfare support to the police service.

Physical health benefits included managing weight, lowering the risk of a stroke, and regulating blood pressure, as well as improving circulation, increasing vitamin D intake and lowering the risk of heart disease.

The mental health benefits include reducing anxiety, improving mood, and better sleep.

Download the free guide now and get out walking to clear your mind, improve your health and spend time with family and friends.
