Downloadable free guides for Federation members

20 May 2024

A number of free downloadable factsheets have been created for Derbyshire Police Federation members, this May.

From supporting officers with their mental health to raising awareness of dementia, Police Mutual has put together several handy guides that can all be accessed now.

In line with Women’s Health Week, which fell earlier this month (12 to 15 May), the Women’s Health guide looked at physical health and the steps women can take to look after it. It explores issues such as menopause, osteoporosis, and cancers, as well as pregnancy, fertility, and endometriosis.

There are sections on common mental health problems anxiety, depression, and stress, and it also looks at eating disorders as well.

As part of Mental Health Week, which launched on Monday (13 May), the downloadable leaflet focussed specifically on how members can be encouraged to look after their wellbeing through exercise.

This year’s theme is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’ and aims to highlight how physical exercise can help our mental health.

It’s packed full of information on how exercise can boost your mental health. The guide also includes tips on how to incorporate exercise and workouts into your daily routine.

The factsheet also includes links and signposts to other support.

And finally, members can also access a free factsheet full of information on dementia.

It’s been put together for Dementia Action Week, an awareness-raising campaign run by the Alzheimer’s Society which started on Monday 13 May.

Produced by Police Mutual, which provides financial services and welfare support to the police service, the factsheet includes information on the signs and symptoms that could indicate a person has dementia as well as the next steps after a diagnosis.

It also contains advice on caring for someone with dementia and signposts to support and sources of information. Download the Dementia Action Week factsheet.
