Supporting men’s mental health

31 January 2022

A webinar designed to give men an opportunity to talk about mental health and wellbeing takes place this week.

The free event, called Man Chat, is being run by mental health specialists Laughology in conjunction with Time to Talk Day, which is on Thursday (3 February 2022).

It will allow men the space to talk about their own mental health and provide tips on how to support themselves and those around them.

The quick-fire, interactive, 30-minute session takes place on Thursday 3 February, starting at 12.30pm, and Derbyshire Police Federation members are being invited to sign up and check it out.

Laughology head of happiness Stephanie Davies said: “In the last year alone, two in three UK men have said they felt stress and anxiety to the point they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.

“This is why getting men and women talking about men’s mental health is now so critical.

“Dave Keeling will be running a free webinar that will explore some facts and myths surrounding mental health, tips on how to start having more open and honest discussions and the four Ss - Spot, Stop, Support and Signpost – a structure for helping those around you who may be struggling.”

Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton said: “We all know some men find it difficult to open up about their mental health and wellbeing but it is a serious issue and I would encourage any of our members who feel in need of extra support to give this webinar a go."

Members can find out more and book their free space by going to the Man Chat website.
