Entries now open for Back on the Beat cycle challenge

Derbyshire Police Federation members are being encouraged to dig out their bikes and sign up for this year’s Back on the Beat fundraising charity event.

Taking place on Saturday 14 May, the bike ride will once again be live, after participants took part virtually last year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Raising money for The Police Treatment Centres (PTC), riders will this year be given the option of three routes, 50km for beginners, 65km for intermediate and 100km for more experienced cyclists.

Chair of Derbyshire Police Federation Tony Wetton said: “Back on the Beat gives members the perfect opportunity to get active while raising money for charity.

“And with three distance options for this year’s event, it is more inclusive than ever.”

All routes for the event will start and finish at the PTC in St Andrews, Harrogate.

“It’s great to see this year’s fundraiser back on the streets, after pretty much two years of virtual events. Better still, participants can enjoy the stunning Yorkshire scenery, while tackling some of the Tour de Yorkshire Route,” added Tony.

Participants who sign up for the event and raise a minimum of £100 will receive a refund on their entry free.

The PTC charity provides essential intensive physical and psychological treatment for injured police officers, with the aim to help them return to better health.
