Treatment centres offering seminar for retiring officers

28 June 2021

The Police Treatment Centres are holding online sessions to help officers approaching retirement access their services.

The events are aimed at officers who are due to retire in the next six months to help them remain eligible for the Police Treatment Centres and the St George’s Police Children Trust.

The first two sessions are being held on Friday 30 July at 10am and 3.30pm, followed by Friday 24 September (10am and 3.30pm) and Friday 26 November (10am and 3.30pm).

Email fundraising@thepolicetreatmentcentres.org with your name, retirement date and preferred session time and date to register. A Microsoft Teams invite will be emailed the week before the event.

Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton said: “These sessions are designed to give officers approaching retirement all the information they need about how the Police Treatment Centres can continue to support them once they’ve left the Force.

“The Police Treatment Centres have a wealth of experience in helping officers and retired officers, and their programmes are specifically designed and tailored for people working in the police service.”

The Police Treatment Centres is a charity which provides treatment and support, including intensive, police-specific, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, for injured and ill police officers and retired officers.

It provides two treatment centres at St Andrews, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae in Auchterarder, Perthshire.

Almost 4,000 serving and retired officers attend the centres each year and most receive intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions or anxiety and depression as part of the charity’s psychological wellbeing programme.

The St George’s Police Children Trust charity aims to support police families by helping ease the financial pressures of bringing up children in the face of life-changing circumstances.
