A free downloadable guide has been created for World Health Day to help officers take better care of themselves.
Created by Police Mutual, the guide covers a whole host of topics, including mental and physical health, while highlighting techniques to improve wellbeing.
The guide coincides with World Health Day, which takes place every year on 7 April, and is an annual awareness day organised by the World Health Organisation.
Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton says: “Everybody’s lives are so busy, it’s no surprise that taking care of our own health can often get pushed down the list of priorities.
“Sometimes, it takes things like this guide to remind us that even the little changes can help improve how we are feeling.”
With this year’s World Health Day theme being ‘to build a fairer and healthier world’, the guide is full of handy tips to help officers take better care of themselves, including getting more sleep and eating better.
“After such a challenging year, it’s vital that we now spend time focusing on our mental and physical health, as well as that of those around us,” added Tony.
“I’d encourage Fed members to take just 10 minutes or so to read this guide. Even if they don’t feel they need support themselves, they might find it helpful when reaching out to colleagues, family or friends.”
Police Mutual offers financial and wellbeing support to serving and retired officers, as well as their families.
