A message from the Chief Constable

This year has been yet another extremely challenging time for policing, both nationally and locally. Covid 19 continues to thwart plans to return to a sense of normality, public confidence in policing has been challenged in ways that no one could have anticipated and yet you continue to come to work, day in, day out, to do your best for the people of Derbyshire.

I am incredibly proud to be the Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary, and to lead the people who come on duty to serve the public, to fight crime, bring offenders to justice and protect the vulnerable. While some colleagues were working from home, you continued to work tirelessly on the frontline, continuing to run towards danger and tackle those who were set on causing harm to others.

At this festive time, I again want to offer my sincere thanks for all that you do. For the effort that you make and the people you protect.

I also want to thank your families, friends, and loved ones who support you and enable you to come to work, understanding when your shift overruns, or you have a rest day cancelled.

This job is one like no other, and it takes extraordinary people to do it. For those of you who are working on Christmas Day, missing that precious family time to ensure we can provide a service to the public, I offer my sincere thanks. For those having the opportunity to spend the day with your loved ones, please keep safe and look out for one another.

And to each and every one of you, I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas and festive period, and a happy, healthy and safe 2022.
