Federation launches LGBT+ group

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has launched its first LGBT+ self-organised group.

The group will support PFEW as it recruits LGBT+ members to be Federation representatives and will also provide opportunities for them to meet and network with the aim of supporting retention and career progression.

“I am sure the group will help identify the issues that affect LGBT+ members and representatives within the Federation so that these can be raised with the appropriate managers and leaders,” says Kirsty Bunn, secretary of Derbyshire Police Federation.

“It will also offer a point of contact, resource and critical friend for all Federation representatives and staff on LGBT+ issues.”

Any elected representative of the Federation who identifies as LGBT+ can join the new group.
