Response policing is more challenging and complex than it has ever been and the hard-working officers across the country deserve to pause and recognise the excellent work that they do.
Raffaele Cioffi, Chair of Sussex Police Federation, said: "Response Policing is the core function of the Police Service and is why many of us became Police Officers.
"Response can be one of the most challenging roles within Policing and at time these members can feel undervalued. It is right that we celebrate the role and recognise the risk these members carry and the impact this can have on their personal lives.
"It’s clear from the National Police Bravery Award nominees this year that our frontline officers are putting themselves in unimaginable situations to simply protect and uphold the law.
"Here is Sussex we are seeing an increase in demand for our response officers. Summer is in full swing, and our branch is closely monitoring Regulation 22 breaches to safeguard our members' rights.
"With the increased demand for our members during this period it is slowly showing that our resourcing levels are still falling short. With the General Election on the horizon, whoever forms the new Government needs to take the lack of frontline policing numbers seriously.
"Our members are despondent with the uplift numbers, and they simply need suitable resourcing for the demands placed on them. If you want this to be and remain the best police service in the world, then it is time to truly invest.”
Online sessions are being provided throughout the week by Oscar Kilo on subjects such as resilience and wellbeing and colleagues are invited to attend these if they are able.
